Long Beach, NY - The City by the Sea Annual Turkey Trot
On November 20th, our first seasonal, cold and grey, New York day, Long Beach was home to the 12th Annual City Council Turkey Trot.
Hosted by the Parks and Recreation Department, a one-mile race began at 8:30 a.m. for children followed by the adult 10k run (6.2 miles) which started at 9:00 a.m. on the boardwalk at New York Avenue.
There were more than 600 runners despite the wintry weather and top finishers in various age categories received awards and turkeys.
The flat and fast route, which follows a boardwalk path, includes East and West Broadway as seen on the video foreground. The background shows runners who have reached the boardwalk and are heading towards the finish.
Participants were encouraged to bring non-perishable food items for a local food pantry.
