Provide Easy Access for Real Estate Showings

Provide Easy Access for Real Estate Showings

Bottom line - if you want to sell your house, you have to let people in. There's nothing convenient about having your home on the market. It can be really stressful and it absolutely interferes with your routine. But if you're serious about the sale, you must make the property available for showings. Lock-boxes are, of course, the simplest to work with as they provide unlimited viewing times. Appointments can be a little more complicated to set up just because they necessitate constant communication between several different parties. But when the show instructions also read "Please give 48 hrs. notice," well, that's just frustrating.  Jill Sackler

I was hoping to tour a residential sale  and learned that the only viewing time is on Tuesday mornings, 10:30 - 11:30. It's open one hour a week and it's not even at a time when most people are generally available. Add to that the 48 hrs. notice that the homeowners apparently demand and this appointment needs to be confirmed by Sunday morning. When I tried to call the brokerage, I found it closed, probably in preparation for the impending storm. This means, at the earliest, I won't be able to get inside until next week.

The house has been on sale for almost 5 months. Oftentimes, I think buyers just give up which may, indeed, be exactly what the homeowners desire. The property is a short sale and the residents may not be ready to leave.
