Long Beach, NY - The City by the Sea - Where have all our surfers gone?
You know the weather is bad when our ubiquitous surfing population is nowhere to be found.
Yesterday, there was a blizzard that dumped an average of 12 inches of snow on the ground. With heavy winds and dropping temperatures, venturing outside to take pictures rapidly became an idea bordering on the insane.
Guilty as charged. I've never seen the ocean before in a snowstorm and, now, I can cross that off my bucket list. It's very pretty and eerily quiet.
But mostly it's cold. Really, really cold.
At the polar plunge, I jested that I could easily participate if the event were to be held in the middle of the summer to which my husband immediately retorted, "Who's going to pay a bunch of people to jump into the water when it's 90 degrees outside"?
Ha! Would it be considered cheating if I went in with a full wet suit?
I'm not as brave as I look.
But in my little City by the Sea, I can dream.
